How to Read Manga on a PSP With the Digital Comic Viewer

The development of digital media and digital media players has changed the means of traditional media delivery. Media once purchased at a news stand or by subscription now may arrive via the Internet. In the wake of this change, many paper-based media companies such as comic book producers have embraced the digital format. These companies have partnered with video game manufacturers to deliver digital comics, such as those available for the Sony PSP. You can store any properly formatted comic on the PSP's Memory Stick Duo storage card and read it using the PSP's digital comic viewer freeware.

Instructions

  Connect to the Internet with a Sony PSP and click on the "Digital Comics" icon in the XMB.

  Download the PSP Digital Comics Reader freeware from the Sony Xross Media Bar.

  Open the Memory Stick Duo compartment on the left side of the PSP.

  Insert a Memory Stick Duo media storage card into the compartment and close the compartment cover.

  Plug the PSP end of a PSP-to-USB cable into the jack beneath the PSP's screen.

  Plug the USB end of the PSP-to-USB cable into a free USB port on your computer.

  Press the "Home" button on the lower-left of the PSP's screen.

  Click the left and right directional buttons until you highlight the "Settings" selection, then use the up an down directional buttons to select "USB Connection."

  Press the "X" button to use the PSP in USB mode. Your computer will automatically recognize the PSP's storage media and an icon will appear on your computer representing the PSP.

  Double click the icon representing the PSP on your computer.

  Create the following folder tree in the PSP: "PSP" > "APP" > "NPEG00012" for your comic files.

  Download the file "EBOOT.PBP" from the Sony PlayStation digital comics "Two Simple Steps to Digital Comics" page to the "NPEG00012" folder.

  Copy any manga comics you wish to read into the "NPEG00012" folder.

  Press the "O" button on the PSP to stop using the PSP in USB mode.

  Remove the PSP-to-USB cable from your computer's USB port and the PSP.

  Click on the "Digital Comics" icon to read comics in your "NPEG00012" folder.
