How to Fix a PSP That Got Wet

An acronym for PlayStation Portable, the PSP is the handheld version of the Sony gaming console. As with any device, the PSP can become permanently damaged when it comes into contact with liquid or moisture. Nonetheless, owners can potentially fix their wet devices if they move fast and properly dry the PSP.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the PSP from any source of liquid or moisture. Immediately transfer the device to a dry location to prevent further contamination.

    • 2

Turn off the PSP. The longer a wet device remains on, the more likely it will short out and become permanently damaged.

    • 3

Wipe the PSP with a clean, dry cloth and place it in direct contact with a source of warmth (e.g. sunlight, air vent). Never attempt to dry the device with an intense source of heat like a hairdryer or a heat gun. These appliances are too powerful and they can melt the external and internal components of the device.

    • 4

Wait at least 24 hours before turning on the PSP. The device will need adequate time to dry completely. If the handheld game console performs normally, then the PSP has been recovered.
