How to Use ISO & CSO Files on PSP

The PSP is a handheld game console with many of the same features as the PlayStation 3. PSP games come in the form of a UMD disc, which is inserted into the back. As it is inconvenient to carry around a large amount of discs, you may wish to install downloaded games directly to the device. Downloaded PSP games are either ISO or CSO file types and can be acquired from various websites online.

  • USB cable
  • Downloaded ISO/CSO game files

Instructions

      Insert the memory card into the slot featured on the side of the PSP.

      Connect the PSP to a free USB port on your computer using the USB cable. On the PSP, open "Settings" and select "USB Connection."

      Click the "Start" button and open "Computer." Double-click the folder for your PSP's memory card drive to open it, and then navigate to the ISO folder. If there is no ISO folder, right-click and select "New Folder." Name the folder "ISO," and double-click to open it.

      Copy the ISO/CSO files into this folder. Disconnect the PSP from your computer.

      Turn off the PSP. Hold down the "R" button, and then turn it back on to boot the device in recovery mode.

      Open "Configuration," and ensure the settings match the following:

      Game folder hombrew (currently: 5.xx Kernel), UMD Mode (Currently: M33 driver -NO UMD-).

      In "Advanced Configuration," enable plain modules in UMD/ISO and disable "Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO."

      Return to the main menu, and exit to reboot the device. Once the device starts up again, scroll to the "Game" menu, open your memory card and select a game to begin playing.
