What Is the Wyverian Harp For?

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is a video game for the Sony PSP portable gaming system that was released in 2007. The player takes on the role of a medieval hunter who must search out and defeat various mythical beasts in order to protect his village. Weapons and armor are earned through a combination of materials gathering and farming. The Wyverian harp is a gift given to players at higher levels that can be used to forge a rare bow called the Dragonhead Harp.

Getting the Wyverian Harp
- Treshi the Treasure Hunter is a character in Monster Hunter 2 who sends the player on quests to find specific items in return for rewards and in-game currency. After the player reaches level 3, one of the items Treshi will give as a reward is the Wyverian Harp, which is described as, "A legendary Wyverian Harp. Originally a weapon, it is in need of repairs." Because no further instructions are given for the harp and it is not usable by itself, it is difficult to figure out what the item is for.
Using the Wyverian Harp
- Once a player gathers four Plesioth scales, four green Plesioth scales and two Novacrystals, these ingredients may be combined with the Wyverian Harp to turn it into a Dragonhead Harp. This action costs 50,000z (the in-game currency). The resulting Dragonhead Harp may be equipped as a bow-and-arrow type weapon. Because the ingredients necessary are all difficult to acquire in the early stages of the game, the Dragonhead Harp is considered to be a rare weapon.
Dragonhead Harp properties
- In Monster Hunter 2 Freedom, weapons have various properties that make them stronger against some enemies and weaker against others. The Dragonhead Harp is strongly skewed toward water damage, and it causes relatively little physical damage. The precise stats are 156 physical attack power, +10 defense and 240 water attack power. Because of these stats, the Dragonhead Harp is best used only against monster with a weakness against water attacks.
Dragonhead Harp upgrades
- By adding more resources to the Dragonhead Harp, it can be upgraded to an even more powerful weapon, though still one that is heavily weighted toward water damage. The Level 2 version costs 75,000z and four thick Plesioth scales, four thick green Plesioth scales and two Purecrystals. It has 204 physical attack power, +15 defense and 270 water attack power. The Level 3 version is the highest upgrade and costs 125,000z and one Commendation G, three special Plesioth fins, three green special Plesioth fins and three heavy Lavasloth fangs. It has 240 physical attack power, +20 defense and 300 water attack power.
