How to Slay Chameleos on MHF2

"Monster Hunter Freedom 2" ("MHF2") is an action, role-playing video game for play on the PlayStation Portable (PSP) gaming system. In it, you control a character that takes on missions to defeat creatures of varying strengths in the areas surrounding his village, while building up your character's strength so that you can take on more difficult missions. One of the more difficult creatures you will encounter is the Elder Mist Dragon, also called "Chameleos." The dragon has an invisibility cloak, making it difficult to determine where the creature will attack from next. Prepare for a challenge when attempting to defeat Chameleos.

Instructions

  Accept the Mist Dragon mission from the Village Elder. The quest will not become available until you have completed many of the lower level missions. Chameleos is a five-star mission.

  Stock up as many Sonic Bombs as you can. Get them randomly as spoils from victorious battles or from the shop in the village. You will max out at 10, so max out your inventory of "Screamers" and "Gun Powder," as well, which you can be combined to create more Sonic Bombs. You can carry 10 of each of these. Assign the Sonic Bomb to one of your action buttons.

  Go to the area the mission has marked on your map. The Chameleos appears in random locations, so go to the map to find the general area where he will be. Unlike other Elder Dragons, you will not have an exact location for Chameleos, due to his invisibility cloak. When you enter the area he is in, you must run around this area until you hit an invisible road block and hear a "grunt." This is Chameleos and he will come after you, so begin to run in a circle. He will flash into visibility momentarily while he attempts to attack you.

  Wait for him to prepare to attack. Be ready for him to attack, with your Sonic Bomb at the ready. Just before his attack, he will become visible for a very short time. Before he has a chance to attack, throw a Sonic Bomb at Chameleos to momentarily stun him. You must be quick on the draw to pull this off.

  Attack the stunned Chameleos between his front and rear legs. On his side, he is not able to attack you when you are in this position. He will, however, blow you away with a Wyvern wind, which makes you out of range before he becomes invisible again.

  Avoid the gas and acid blobs he spits out. They can easily be avoided if you make sure you are not in front of him at any given point.

  Follow the green mist to track him when he becomes enraged and goes invisible. Do not follow directly in the path of the mist. Do not lose track of him, or he will sneak up behind you and tackle you.

  Direct your attacks at his horn after he has fallen. Once he is writhing on the ground, finish him off by attacking and destroying the horn on his head.
