How to Get DMW Materia in Crisis Core

In "Crisis Core," the battle system incorporates lots of real-time "hack-and-slash" style gameplay, heavily influenced by the "DMW" (Digital Mind Wave). The DMW looks like a slot machine with three different numbers from 1 through 9 as well as portraits of key characters encountered in the game. Any time the DMW stops with three of the same character's portrait in alignment, a "Limit Break," or special attack, occurs. At a certain point in the game, a particular shop becomes available which sells "DMW Materia," which raise the chances of a specific limit break occurring.

  Reach the abandoned mako reactor. This point -- fairly late in the game -- comes directly after a boss fight as Zack heads in this direction on a motorcycle.

  Head South to the next area, "Gongaga Outskirts." Head along the path, and you will pass a save point and watch a cutscene. Once the cutscene ends, head directly to the Southernmost edge of the area to find a treasure chest.

  Open the chest to receive the "Research Dept. QMC +" shop item. After picking up this item, you can enter your menu, select "shop," and then "Reaearch Dept. QMC +". In the next menu, you can buy up to six different DMW materia for 10,000 gil each. Equipping these materia increases the chances of a particular limit break occurring on the DMW.
