How to Unlock Gold Rathian

Gold Rathians are powerful and rare creatures in the "Monster Hunter" universe. Of the Flying Wyvern species, they and their female counterparts, Silver Rathalos, are among the most coveted because of the rewards you get for fighting them. Their body parts are used as components to create strong weapons, armor and other equipment for your hunter. The quests for both the Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos are unlocked using different methods for "Monster Hunter Freedom 2," "Monster Hunter Freedom Unite" and "Monster Hunter Portable 3rd."

Instructions

  Fight as many Flying Wyverns as you can find while completing quests throughout "Monster Hunter Freedom 2." Flying Wyverns are the only type of monster that count toward unlocking the Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos missions.

  Go to areas where you are more likely to find Flying Wyvern type monsters. Different types of Flying Wyverns prefer living in different climates. For example, Gravios and Basarios are frequently found in volcanic regions; Khezus are often found dwelling in dark, damp caves; Diablos live in deserts; and Rathalos and Rathians reside in forests, volcanoes, swamps and hills.

  Kill a total of 100 of any species of Flying Wyvern to unlock the Gold Rathian and Silver Rathalos quests in your quest menu.
