Starting Boost
Obtain a speed boost at the beginning of a race by holding down the gas during the pre-race countdown, making sure to keep the revolutions per minute gauge out of the red zone for best results. This trick gives you a slight edge over your competition without having to use any of your car's limited nitrous supply.
Infinite Nitrous
The infinite nitrous trick only works during the Time Attack and Single Race modes. To execute the cheat, hold down the "Select" button while simultaneously pressing "OK" on the confirmation screen. Now you'll never have to worry about exhausting your car's supply of nitrous again.
Mirror Mode
Mirror Mode only works during the Single Race and Time Attack gameplay modes. To implement Mirror Mode, hold down the "Select" button while choosing your racetrack. If done correctly, the track will load in Mirror Mode.
Rally-X Vehicle
All of the hidden cars in the game can be unlocked by climbing through the ranks of the in-game Pro Tour, but the Rally-X car requires a bit more effort. To unlock this hidden car, players must complete Pro Tour Race 18 and achieve a score of at least 50,000 points in the mini-game for the Rally-X.
Single Disc Multiplayer
Multiplayer games typically require each player to have his own disc, but a quick workaround lets two players to share the same disc. Start the game like normal on one of the two PSPs and create a new game in Ad Hoc Mode. Once in the lobby, remove the Ridge Racer disc from your PSP and put it into the second one. Join the Ad Hoc game that was previously created and begin the game. Both PSP screens will go black, and after a few moments, the second PSP will stop reading the Ridge Racer disc. Remove the disc, and place it back into the first PSP. Once the game is fully loaded onto the first PSP, remove the disc again and put it back into the second unit. Wait for the game to load onto the second PSP and you're all set to play head-to-head.
