Time Management
Each of the eight chapters in "Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth" is divided into varying numbers of periods. Entering villages to seek new weapons and recruits uses up one period, entering dungeons to fight monsters and gain experience uses up two, and searching for new places with "spiritual concentration" uses two. Some villages have dungeons. If you need experience and have access to one of these villages, visit it and clear its dungeon of monsters instead of going straight to a dungeon from the world map. This will use only one period instead of two.
Maximize Levels
Three special items can help you maximize your stat gains upon leveling up. The Experience Orb is a special item that collects experience that you can distribute as you see fit. The Emerald Necklace increases the character's capacity points by 100 upon level-up and the Bracelet of Zoe grants a permanent health bonus of 300 when a new level is reached. When a character is about to level up, equip him with the necklace and bracelet, and use the orb to push him over the top to gain the extra benefits.
Save Often
You can save the game at special save points in dungeons or anywhere on the world map. The difficulty in "Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth" varies wildly from one moment to the next, so even if you have been breezing through encounters, there is no guarantee that the next fight will not wipe you out. Saving any time you have the chance can keep you from losing hours of work.
Reflect Magic
Some enemies, especially later in the game, will have access to Reflect Magic. This magic bounces any spell that you send at the enemy back at your party. You can get around this by starting an attack combo with a weapon attack. Any magic attack that follows the weapon in the combo will go right through the reflect barrier.
