How to Unlock Level 9 on Monster Hunter 2

Getting to level 9 on "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" requires persistence and careful tactical planning. The trick to gaining access to level 9 is to do all the quests you can, so your character is strong enough to make it through the previous levels. "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" is all about the item drops and leveling your character through quests or "grinding," which is the repetitive killing of monsters to gain experience.

  Go to the Guild Hall whenever possible, and talk to the quest givers, the ones with dialogue notifications over them. When you interact with them, they offer you quests. Always accept, as some of them are randomly generated, and you could complete some in the normal course of other quests.

  Spend all your money on better items whenever possible. The monsters drop gold and other items during your quests, so you are never short of money. "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" likes to surprise you with ridiculously huge monsters, so it's best always to be prepared with the best equipment.

  Complete all possible quests on each level to earn maximum experience and items. Advancing before you have the experience and items necessary to survive more fearsome monsters is pointless. Also, sell any items you do not need before advancing to a new level, so you can buy better ones.

  Use dual swords after the fourth level, when you should be sufficiently advanced to use them effectively. This inflicts higher damage per second, which more than makes up for doing less damage per hit.

  Buy all the healing potions you can before taking on Level 8 quests. They are much harder than those of previous levels, and it can get frustrating to fight the same monster repeatedly.
