Instructions
Place the "DJ Max Portable Black Square" UMD in your PSP. Connect your PSP to your computer using the mini-USB cable.
Press "Select" on your PSP and from the custom firmware menu highlight "USB Device." Press right on the PSP D-pad until the words "UMD Disc" is shown next to "USB Device." Press "Select" again to close the custom firmware menu.
Select "USB Connection" under the "Settings' menu of the PSP and press "X." Your PSP UMD disc will appear under "My Computer" as a new drive. Double-click this drive to open it then right-click on the "iso" file and select "copy."
Right-click on your desktop and select "Paste." This will copy the game from the UMD to your computer and enable you to work with it. Disconnect your PSP from your computer.
Download "PSP UMDGEN" (See Resources.) Extract the contents of the archived file, then double click "UMDGen.exe" to run the program.
Click on the "DJ Max" file you copied to your desktop, then drag it into the main window of the program. The contents of the game will be displayed on the left program window. Click on the "Update" folder and press "Delete." This folder contains firmware updates for your PSP, but since you are using custom firmware you don't need it. Don't delete any other files or folders from the game as this can prevent the game from working.
Click the "Save" button at the top of the program screen and select "Compressed *.cso" to make the game even smaller. Type in a new name for the compressed game and press "Save." Delete the original "iso" file of the game from your desktop since you no longer need it.
Press "Select" on your PSP and change the "USB device" back to "Memory Stick" Close the firmware menu, then select "USB Connection" to connect your PSP to your computer again. This time the contents of your memory stick will be shown under "My Computer."
Right-click on the new "CSO" file you have created and select "Cut." Navigate to the "Game" folder on your PSP memory stick and right click then select "Paste." This will transfer the game from your desktop to your PSP. You will see that the game is now less than 1GB and can be played from a 1GB memory card.
