The "Monster Hunters Freedom 2" video game is largely based on "Monster Hunters 2" for the PlayStation 2, though many of its features are omitted, revised, or adapted to suit the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Players of the game track and defeat increasingly difficult and majestic beasts, using the remains of their bodies, to create fearsome armor and weapons to in turn hunt bigger game. Gamers can play online with their friends in Adhoc mode to take on enemies that might otherwise be beyond their means.

  Connect your PlayStation 3 (PS3) to a high-speed modem or router, which will serve as the wireless router for your PSP. The portable device can pick this signal up, since it can already locally play games with other PSPs in the area.

  Log on to an online user name on your PS3 console. Go to the PlayStation Store on the interface and search for "PSP Adhoc" to locate and download the software named "Adhoc Party," which allows the PS3 to communicate with the PSP.

  Start an Adhoc Party and click "X" on the "Search for Game" option. Begin a game of "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" on your PSP and enter the guild tent at the start. Choose "Online Guild" to allow the PS3 to detect your PSP.

  Scroll through the list of "worlds" that appears and select one at random or choose one that your friends have agreed upon. "World J" is considered an English-speaking world. Worlds are actually more like lobbies with entrances to different games.
