Features
A hand-held portable video player and game console, the PSP Slim measures 2.9 inches high, 6.7 inches wide, and .7 inches thick. The system features an LCD TFT active matrix screen with 480 x 272 resolution. An internal rechargeable battery or external alternating current adapter provide power.
Power Failure
According to the PSP Slim owner's manual, direct exposure to sunlight or extreme temperatures will cause battery malfunction. Storing the battery outside of the PSP, where it touches other metal objects such as keys or coins, will damage the battery's leads, and contact with moisture can cause the battery to short circuit.
Using the PSP's AC power adapter without the battery inserted will damage the system. Improper storage of the AC cord can cause to a short in the cable, leaving the adapter unable to recharge the battery or power the system.
Tips
Rechargeable batteries eventually wear out. If your PSP doesn't hold a charge or only works when using the AC adapter, replace the battery. You can buy replacement batteries online, from $10 and up, plus shipping, as of 2011.
