The PSP Charger Is Not Working

Sony Play Station Portable (PSP) video devices are handheld mechanisms that allow people to play digital games from just about anywhere. Charging your PSP battery before you travel is wise to ensure extended playing time. Possessing a properly functioning charger is essential to keeping your PSP running smoothly. If you find that your charger is not working, you can take several troubleshooting steps.

Plug the charger into a working outlet. Plug another appliance -- such as a light -- into the same outlet. Turn the light on to see if it works. A malfunctioning outlet can distribute little to no power to your PSP charger. Ensure your charger is plugged properly into the outlet. Press the charger plug flush against the outlet cover to ensure all connections are in place.

Check the charger connection in the PSP device. Insert the charger connection pin firmly into the appropriate hole on your PSP. Holes are round in shape and often color coded. Charger connection holes resemble headphone connection holes and can sometimes be confused for them. Press the charger connection pin all the way in, until it is flush with the PSP surface. Do not use USB cables because they are not reliable for charging.

Call a Sony customer service representative if problems continue. Explain that your charger is not working and that you may need a new one and/or a new battery. Inquire about product discount opportunities for either of these products. Ask about warranty information before purchasing a new charger to see if Sony can send a replacement for free.
