How to Import My Data to Monster Hunter Portable Second Generation

If you've played "Monster Hunter Freedom 2," but don't want to lose the progress on your character when you start "Monster Hunter Unite," don't fear. You can import your character between the two games using the simple "Import" feature on the new portable game. There are a few restrictions, however: the imports only work from "Freedom 2" to "Unite" (or between copies of "Unite") and the system only works on UMD copies of the game, in the same region as the original.

Things You'll Need

  • Monster Hunter Freedom 2 UMD
  • MemoryStik Duo media
  • Monster Hunter Unite UMD

Instructions

    • 1

Save your "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" game to the MemoryStik media inserted in your PSP, and exit the game. Return to the PSP home menu. If the game data is stored on your computer, or you have downloaded a save file, transfer it to your PSP memory card using the USB cable and "USB Connection" mode.

    • 2

Eject the UMD game disc and replace it with the disc for "Monster Hunter Unite." Select the game from the PSP "Game" menu.

    • 3

Start a new game and select "Import Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Character" from the "Character Creation" screen. (Or "Monster Hunter Unite," if you've got another "Unite" game file).

    • 4

Press "X" to page through the introductory pages. Continue until you reach the "Character Transfer" screen.

    • 5

Select the character that you want to play with from the three listed files, and press "X." Wait for the import function to finish, then begin the game using your data from the previous "Monster Hunter" portable game.
