How to Add PS1 Games Onto My PSP 3000 Without Custom Firmware

The PSP-3000 is a portable gaming system released by Sony that features a screen with better brightness and color definition than previous iterations of the PSP system. The PSP-3000 cannot run a large portion of custom firmware installations due to digital rights management, leaving users with fewer options for their systems than the older PSP models. Thankfully, there is a growing collection of PS1 titles available for download directly from the PSP system, using the PlayStation Store. Downloading new PS1 games should only take a few minutes to complete.

Instructions

    • 1

      Power up your PSP.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Settings" page on the Media Crossbar. Select "Network Settings," then select "Scan" to search for available wireless Internet connections. Select your wireless connection from the list of available connections to connect your PSP to the Internet.

    • 3

Navigate to the PlayStation Store at the far-right portion of the Media Crossbar.

    • 4

Create a new PlayStation Store account by selecting "Get PlayStation Network ID," or log into your existing account at the log-in page.

    • 5

Browse the PlayStation Store selection. You can search by "System," "Genre," "Title," or "Top Sellers." There are dozens of PS1 games available for purchase. When you have found a title you wish to purchase, click "Buy" on the game's information page. Enter your financial information, or your 16-digit PSN Points code to add the required funds to your PSN wallet. When your financial information has been confirmed, your download will begin. You can play your PS1 games by selecting them from the "Games" section of the media crossbar.
