WWE Games for the PSP

Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment is a professional wrestling production that has been around for decades, spawning legions of fans and numerous videogames, including a series of games on the Sony PSP--Sony's portable system--called "WWE: Smackdown vs. RAW." These games have been produced steadily since 2005, published by THQ. The games have received moderately positive reviews from entertainment website IGN.
  1. Smackdown vs. RAW 2006

    • "Smackdown vs. RAW 2006" was released in December 2005 and features several game modes including Cinematic Season, where players can go through various matches similar to the real wrestling season. The game also includes the addition of a Momentum and Stamina system, where wrestlers can get tired after certain special moves or relying on momentum during matches to give them a competitive edge. The game was awarded an overall score of 8.7/10 from IGN reviewer Jeremy Dunham.

    Smackdown vs. RAW 2007

    • "Smackdown vs. RAW 2007" was released in December 2006 and features an exclusive game mode called "Road to WrestleMania" which allows players to create their own tournaments. There's also the addition of dual-analog controls, which uses both analog direction pads on the PSP simultaneously for creating new combos and implementing special moves. However, the IGN reviewer Jeremy Dunham, who awarded the game a 7.8/10, commented negatively on the game's frustrating AI, which can interfere with gameplay.

    Smackdown vs. RAW 2008

    • "Smackdown vs. RAW 2008" was released in November 2007 and received a modest review from IGN reviewer Greg Miller, who awarded the game a 6.5/10. The game includes 55 WWE wrestlers and many match options, but Miller commented on the regression of the graphics from the game's previous iteration, stating that the once-3D crowds have been replaced with 2D blobs and even the menus are blurry. The game features a new control scheme and a new mode known as "24/7 Mode," both of which are disappointing, according to reviewers.

    Smackdown vs. RAW 2009

    • The 2009 edition of "Smackdown vs. RAW" was released in November 2008 and features many of the same problems the previous iteration had, including poor crowd graphics, bland facial animations and sharp edges on the digital models. Game reviewer Greg Miller, who awarded the game a 6.5/10 on IGN, stated that the game is essentially identical to the previous rendition, with only minor updates.

    Smackdown vs. RAW 2010

    • "Smackdown vs. RAW 2010" sees an improvement over its predecessor with the inclusion of 67 WWE superstars as well as the ability to create your own wrestler. The game was released in October 2009 and features many of the same graphical problems of its two predecessors, including blocky character models and blurred crowds. However, there is a "Create-a-Story" mode which allows players to make their own road-to-the-WWE story along with their custom characters. The game was awarded a 7.2/10 by IGN reviewer Greg Miller.
