Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 2 was one of the first games released for the PSP, coming out at the same time that the system was released. As you go through the game, you progress through 20 levels that mirror the main points from the film of the same name. You control Spider-Man in a 3-D environment as you battle your way through mini-bosses up until the final battle with Dr. Octopus.
Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3 was released for the PSP in October of 2007. The game was one of the first PSP game to allow players the freedom to move through a 3D environment. You can choose to follow the main storyline, much of which was borrowed from the move of the same name, or you can go out on your own to follow sub-plots or just fight crime around the city. You can have Spider-Man wear the regular Spider-Man outfit, or you can don the black one to gain extra abilities, at the cost of city morale. Some of the voiceovers during the cut scenes are form the actual actors from the movie.
Spider-Man: Firend or Foe
Activision released Spider-Man: Friend or Foe in the same month as Spider-Man 3, but the two games are different enough that they didn't really compete with each other. Friend or Foe focuses on co-op play where two players, or one player and a computer assistant, take on numerous enemies throughout the different levels. The combat system only has a few moves, but you can string hits together to create some spectacular combinations.
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
The PSP version of Web of Shadows features a Spider-Man character who is a lot like the one from Spider-Man 3. As you play, you must decide which of the two suits to put on, the red with its control to the black with its power. As you use each suit, your two reputation scores will increase respectfully and you need certain levels of reputation to purchase some items. The game features hordes of enemies that you must fight your way through, and you can call friends with special powers to help you through tight places.
