PS2 Memory Card Connector Information

Sony's PlayStation 2 has two memory card connectors on both the original and slim versions of the console. These connect memory cards that save essential system information and game data to the console for later use.

Location
- Both memory card connectors are located above the controller ports on the front side of the console.
Usage
- Slide a PlayStation 2 memory card with the "PlayStation 2" logo facing upwards into the memory card connector. The console will detect it automatically and allow you to save data when the games you are playing require it.
Memory Cards
- Official PlayStation 2 memory cards have an 8MB storage capacity, but some third party manufacturers offer cards with more space on them. The cards also have "MagicGate" technology, a security system supported by the console's memory card connectors that combats piracy.
Backwards Compatibility
- The PlayStation 2 is backwards compatible with the original PlayStation. The memory card connectors can have original PlayStation memory cards inserted into them to use with PlayStation games, but not PlayStation 2 games.
