How to Play Custom Music in PS2 Games

Due to the memory constraints of the PS2, the console doesn't support the playing of custom music like the Xbox 360 and newer generations of consoles. PS2 games are streamed off the DVD while playing and not installed to a hard disk, which means the game must be in the drive at all times in order for the game to work. One of the only PS2 titles that support custom music is "Dance Factor." This rhythm based game allows you to insert your own custom music CD and it will generate dance patterns that you can then play.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the back of the game box or inside the game manual to see if the PS2 title supports custom music.

    • 2

Place the game in the PS2 and start up the console. Wait for the game to load and the main menu to appear.

    • 3

Select "Play" from the main menu and then choose if you want to play "Solo" or in "Multiplayer." Select "Normal Mode," which will allow you to play a single track.

    • 4

Wait for the message to appear that states "Please insert a CD to dance to your own music." Open the PS2 disc drive and remove the game disc. Insert your own CD with custom music and close the drive.

    • 5

Select the track that you want to play to from the list that will appear on screen. When it is finished you will be prompted to select another track or insert the PS2 game disc again.
