Instructions
Test your voltmeter to make sure that it works by selecting the "Ohms" mode on the device and then touching the black and red leads to each other. If the voltmeter is functioning properly, a low reading of 0 or 0.1 should appear on its screen while the leads are in contact.
Test your Playstation 2 power unit by touching one of the metal leads (black or red) to one of the prongs on the two-pronged end that connects to electrical outlets and by placing the other lead inside the one of the holes on the part of the power unit that goes into your Playstation 2. Once contact is made with both leads, a low reading (0 or 0.1) should again appear on your voltmeter screen.
Switch the leads to the other prong and hole on the Playstation 2 power unit and view the voltmeter reading. If it reads low again (0 or 0.1), your Playstation 2 power unit is in perfect working condition. If the reading shows up higher than 0 or 0.1, you have a defective power unit.
