Insert a PS1 or PS2 CD into the computer.
Open Independence Compiler, and click the "Drive Letter" menu.
Click the drive that your PS1 game is in, click "Get" to get the PS1 game's ID code and select "Add."
Check "Key Launch" on Step 2 of the program's main window.
Check "Cogswap," "Memory Card Format," "Memory Card Loader" and "DMS Format" in Step 3 of the program.
Click "NTSC" under Step 6 if you are in North America. Click "PAL" if you are in Europe.
Click "MC" for memory card under "Directory Structure."
Click "Start" to create the exploit. A window will appear to tell you where the exploit file was saved.
Go to the folder where Independence Compiler saved the exploit file.
Select all of the files that are in that folder.
Open PS2 Save Builder, and drag all of the selected files into the PS2 Save Builder window.
Enter in "BADATA-SYSTEM" for the "Root ID" on PS2 Save Builder.
Click "File" and "Save As" to open a new window.
Click on "Save Type," and select "SharkPort."
Enter "EXPLOIT" as the save title, and click "Save" to save the game to your desktop.
Rename the saved file on your desktop "Your SystemConfigurations.PS2."
Insert a USB flash drive into your computer.
Drag the save file to the flash drive to save it on the flash drive.
Remove the flash drive from the computer, and ensure the memory card is in the PS2.
Insert the Game Shark CD into the PS2, and it will boot up.
Insert the flash drive into your PS2 after the Game Shark menu appears.
Press the "X" button on the PS2 controller to select "Memory Manager" on the Game Shark menu.
Select "No" when asked to read from CDRom. On the left side of the menu, select the save file you made that's on the flash drive.
Press the "O" button on the PS2 controller to bring up options.
Press the "X" button to copy the saved file to your PS2 memory card. Now when you turn on your PS2 with the memory card inserted, the PS2 will boot to the exploit menu and allow you to play game backups.
