Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn off the system and unplug all of the cords and memory card from it. Also remove the game disc and memory card if you have them in the system.
Turn the system upside down. Use the flathead screwdriver to shimmy off the six small squares that cover the screws. You will find one of the six underneath the warranty seal and you will have to peel off the sticker or break through it to get to the screw. This will void your PS2 warranty. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the six screws.
Flip the system over and lift the top cover off to expose the parts inside. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the fan in place. Lift the fan out and disconnect the fan cable.
Remove the four large, flat screws holding the DVD drive in place. Unplug the white ribbon cable on the right side of the drive. Also unplug the orange ribbon cable so you can live the DVD drive out, but do not pull too hard on it. The ribbon cable is secured to the metal casing beneath the DVD. Lift the DVD drive up and disconnect the other end of the orange ribbon cable from underneath it.
Pull out the ribbon cable for the power button. Lift everything out from the bottom cover and then flip it over. Remove any screws from the metal casing and lift it off, leaving only the motherboard with the hardware chips on it.
Replace any damaged drivers with new ones and reassemble the PS2 slim in the reverse order you took it apart.
