How to Copy Games From an HDLoader to a Computer

The PlayStation 2 hard drive, coupled with a program such as HDLoader, enables you to copy your purchased games directly onto the hard drive for faster loading and less stress on the console. Users of HDLoader can also copy game software onto their computers for back up, which is a relatively painless process.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the PlayStation 2 and unplug the power supply on the back of the console. Remove the screws from the PlayStation 2 hard drive and remove the hard drive from the console's expansion bay.

    • 2

Turn off your computer and locate an available IDE port and a power port. For desktop users, this might be located under the tower's cover. Alternatively, place the PS2 hard drive in an IDE dock connected to your computer.

    • 3

Turn on the computer and locate the PlayStation 2 hard drive folder ("PS2 HDD"). This folder contains all of your saved game software. Open the folder, and copy and paste the software you wish to back up into a folder on your computer's hard drive.
