Things You'll Need
Instructions
Take the PS2 console apart by taking out any removable network drives or hard drives first. The hard drive and any network drives pull out from the back of the console.
Turn the PS2 over and use a blunt item such as a knife to remove the covers for the screws. Use a Phillip screwdriver to remove the screw from the back of the PS2.
Turn the PS2 right-side up and take off the top cover. Remove the two small gold screws next to the controller port. Unscrew the two screws next to the fan. Unplug and remove the hard drive and DVD drive.
Connect the modchip to the PlayStation 2 using short, thin, 15 AWG wrapping wires. Thin wire allows for easier contacting the motherboard and soldering to the board. The shortest wire distances should be used.
Connect the wiring from the modchip to the PS2 motherboard according to the installation guide that came with the chip.
Locate the area on the motherboard where the modchip needs to be soldered. This can be found in the modchip installation guide. Solder the wires to the modchip and the other end of the wires to the PS2 motherboard. Align the wires so that they are not running over important motherboard parts or circuits.
Reinsert the DVD drive and screw the two gold screw in. Attach the case cover and replace the screw into the back of the console.
