How to Extract a PS2 Network Setup Disc

The Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) has online capabilities. In order to do so, you need to determine if your PS2 has a network adapter built in. If you have the large PS2, you will need the adapter. If you have a slim PS2, the adapter is already installed in the console. After you have installed the adapter, you will need to run the network setup disc to save your connection settings so you can play PS2 games online.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the PS2 by unplugging the power cord in the back of the system.

    • 2

Insert the PS2's network adapter if you have the larger, original PS2. The slim PS2 has the network adapter built in. Pull the back cover off the original PS2's expansion bay. Fit the adapter inside the bay. Tighten the adapter screws with a flathead screwdriver.

    • 3

Place the Ethernet cable into the adapter if you are using a broadband connection. Place a telephone line into adapter if you are using a dial-up connection.

    • 4

Insert the PS2 network disc. Once the disc loads, name the connection whatever you want. Select if you are using a cable, DSL or dial-up connection. For dial-up connections, insert the provider's name, login information and phone number.

    • 5

Choose "Automatic settings." The settings will be saved to your memory card so that you do not have to run the disc again.
