How to Buff Out Scratches on Your PS2 Game

PlayStation 2 games can become scratched when they are left out, drop from the user's hands or simply receive many years of wear and tear. If your game has fallen victim to a scratch, you can often repair it within 10 minutes using items you have at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Carefully hold the disc by its edges or through its center hole to prevent scratching or marking the disc up further.

    • 2

Turn on a sink and adjust the temperature of the water until it is lukewarm. Wait until the water has cleared off any debris or smudges on the disc.

    • 3

Completely coat the shiny underside of the disc with gentle tabs of toothpaste. Smudge the toothpaste over it and be careful not to scratch it with your nails.

    • 4

Let the disc sit out in the air for approximately 10 minutes until it has dried in the air.

    • 5

Take a damp washcloth or screen cleaning rag and remove the toothpaste by pushing it out from the center to the edge.

    • 6

Rinse the disc and pat it dry with a paper towel. Do not allow any toothpaste or drops of water to remain on the underside.
