How to Burn PS2 Video Games on an iMac

Burning PS2 games in OSX can be done quickly, easily, and with any of a number of software packages. Making copies of your games is a good way of ensuring that you'll still have access to them if the originals are lost. U.S. Copyright Law allows for a single backup copy to be made so long as you own the original game. As long as you don't share the copies you make, you are within your rights as a consumer to make a backup copy of your PS2 games.

Things You'll Need

  • An image file (ISO, BIN/CUE, etc.)
  • Disc-authoring ("burning") software
  • Blank CD or DVD (as required)

Instructions

    • 1

Insert your original PS2 disc into your iMac and select "create disc image" from the menu (for example, under "Copy" in Burn and under "Disc" in Toast). This will save a copy of the PS2 disc to your hard drive in preparation for burning.

    • 2

Once you have a disc image, insert your blank disc and select your image file to be burned. In the burn program, this is done by selecting "Copy" at the menu, then "Open" to select an image.

    • 3

Verify that your backup has been authored correctly by loading it in your PS2 to play-test it. Repeat all steps if necessary to ensure a fully playable copy.
