How to Wire a PS2 Keyboard Cable

Certain games for the Sony PlayStation 2 required the use of a keyboard peripheral. This added a keyboard to your PS2, similar to the keyboard you would use on a PC. Unlike devices for the PlayStation 3 console which connect via wireless technology, the keyboard peripheral for the Sony PlayStation 2 connects via a cable that must be connected to your console at all times (similar to the operation of a regular controller).

  Turn off your PlayStation 2. Certain models of USB keyboards for the PS2 will only work if they are plugged in when the system is turned on.

  Turn your PlayStation 2 around so that you can see the back.

  Insert the USB plug on the end of your keyboard's attached USB cable into the USB input on the back of your PlayStation 2.

  Turn your PlayStation 2 back around and turn it on. The keyboard will now work with games that support this feature. To see if your game supports the keyboard, check on the packaging the game came in for a list of compatible hardware accessories.
