My PS2 Game Does Not Spin

The Sony PlayStation 2 plays video games from discs, similar to DVDs. In order for the system to read the disc, it must spin at a high rate of speed. If, for whatever reason, the PS2 game does not spin, there is either a problem with the disc or the video game system. Depending on the problem, you may be able to correct it yourself.

Compressed air
Clean soft cloth

Instructions

  Insert a different game in the PS2, and attempt to boot it up. If the game plays, the issue is with the other disc. If this disc does not spin either, there is a problem with the console.

  Clean the disc if the problem is with the game. Use a clean, soft cloth to remove fingerprints and other debris from it. Reinsert the game in the PS2, and try it again.
- 3
  Spray a few shots of compressed air into the open drive of the PS2. This removes dust that may be clogging the motor of the system. Insert the game to see if it spins.
