How to Run PS2 Games on Your PC

The typical method of running PlayStation 2 (PS2) games is through their proprietary console. However, you may also play them on your home computer. Through emulation software, you can play your game discs at acceptable compatibility rates. Furthermore, such applications support community-developed games, which are generally free of charge and designed to test the platform.

  Download a PS2 game emulator. As of December 2010, only PCSX2 and PS2Emu can successfully run commercial games on your PC. PCSX2 possesses the highest game compatibility.

  Install the PS2 game emulator to your computer by following the on-screen instructions. This consists of selecting a default installation directory and a "Start" menu entry. Selecting all the default options is recommended for installation efficiency.

  Insert your PS2 disc into your computer's optical drive. Launch the PS2 game emulator, select its main "File" menu, followed by "Run CD/DVD" or "Execute." Note that these options/entries vary with each build (release) of the emulation program.
