How to Clean Your PS2 Disk With Household Products

Imagine you're playing a game in your PlayStation 2, making steady progress. Then, the music starts skipping or game play freezes entirely. When this happens, you need to clean the disc of dust, fingerprints and minor scratches. Rather than buy an expensive CD cleaning kit to clean your PS2 discs, you can clean them with simple household products.

Things You'll Need

Soft cloths
Rubbing alcohol
Toothpaste

Instructions

  Pour rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth, and rub it on the disc in straight lines, moving outward from the center. This is the best way to avoid further scratching the PS2 disc. Cleaning it in circular motions can damage the disc.

  Rinse the alcohol off the disc with cold water. Do not dry it yet.

  Place a small dab of toothpaste on the disc.

  Rub the cloth around the entire circumference of the disc. This buffs it, removing slight scratches.

  Rinse the PS2 disc thoroughly and dry it with another soft cloth.
