My Wireless Guitar Won't Connect to Guitar Hero 3 for PS2

"Guitar Hero" is a video game in which you use a guitar to play rock songs from the past and present. The popularity of the game has created multiple versions and competing games such as "Rock Band." A common issue with "Guitar Hero 3" is that the wireless guitar is not recognized by the game system. This is a problem on many gaming systems, including the PS2. Solving this issue requires disassembling the guitar and cleaning the connections.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the neck of the guitar from the guitar base. This can be accomplished by pulling the neck while securing the guitar body with your hands. Once they are separated, lay the two pieces aside in a safe place.

    • 2

Clean the connections at the end of the guitar with cotton swabs. Use a small amount of rubbing alcohol and gently clean the neck connections of the guitar from any debris.

    • 3

Clean the connectors at the base of the guitar. Use a cotton swab that has a small amount of rubbing alcohol to gently clean the connectors to remove any dirt or debris.

    • 4

Take the game of the PS2 along with the wireless connector in one of the ports in the front of the machine. Make sure the disc is clean. Use a disc cleaner and soft cloth to remove any marks. Softly blow into the connection port on the PS2 to remove any dust.

    • 5

Reassemble the guitar pushing the neck down into the guitar body. Make sure that the connection is solid and there is no wiggle in the guitar neck once connected.

    • 6

Replace the game and wire connector back into the PS2 and turn the game on. If the system is still not recognizing the game, hold the reset button on the PS2 for 10 to 15 seconds and retry.
