How to Load Linux From USB PS2

Sony PlayStation 2 consoles are equipped with several USB ports on the front and rear of the machine. Connect a USB memory device in order to load the freeware Linux operating system on the PS2 console. Loading Linux on your PS2 enables you to run applications on the PS2 that allow custom games and tasks such as installing games to a hard drive.

  • Linux PS2 DVD
  • USB device with Linux installed

Instructions

      Connect the USB device with Linux installed to a free USB port on the PS2 console. Turn on the machine and wait for the main menu to load.

      Eject the disc tray and place the Linux PS2 DVD inside, then close the tray. Wait for the disc to load, then select "Run Linux" by pressing the "X" button on the controller.

      Wait for the Linux operating system to load. The PS2 console will run Linux and accept input commands via the console's controller or a USB keyboard and mouse. Close Linux at any time by powering off the console.
