How to Tune a Car on Gran Turismo 4

Released for the PlayStation 2 in 2004, "Gran Turismo 4" champions itself as a "real driving simulator." The game features more than 700 cars and 50 tracks, as well as some of the most comprehensive automobile customization available in a video game. You can purchase parts for your automobiles and fine-tune nearly every mechanical aspect of the engine, brakes, suspension, wheels and more. Properly tuning a car in "Gran Turismo 4" requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of automobile design and function.

Select "Buy Parts" from the Gran Turismo main menu. Within game menus, use the directional pad to move the cursor on the screen, the "X" button to accept your selection and the "O" button to cancel your selection.

Purchase the automobile parts necessary for customized tuning. For instance, if you want to tune the brakes on your automobile, you must first purchase the Brake Balancing Controller. To customize the drive train, you must first purchase the Fully Customizable Transmission. Read the description under each part to determine if you need to purchase it to enable tuning.
