How to Calibrate a PS2 Guitar

Music games on the PlayStation 2 such as the "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero" series are controlled using wireless controllers that are designed to replicate guitars. Before you play the music game with your guitar, you should calibrate the controller using the calibration option located within the games of each series. Calibrating your guitar will reduce the lag between the television and controller so that as soon as you strum a note it is registered on-screen at the same time.

Instructions

  1. Rock Band Series

    • 1

Tap the strum bar down on the guitar to navigate to "Options" on the main menu. Press the green button on the neck of the guitar.

    • 2

Scroll down to "Calibration Settings" and press the green button. Choose "Calibrate Manually."

    • 3

Strum down on the guitar every time you hear a drum beat. Continue to strum until you do not hear any more beats. This calibrates the audio portion of the guitar and game.

    • 4

Strum down on the guitar every time the the needle touches either side of the meter to calibrate the video portion of the guitar and game. Continue to strum until prompted to stop.

    • 5

Press the green button to confirm the calibration and return to the main menu.

    Guitar Hero Series

    • 6

Strum down on the guitar to highlight "Options" from the main menu and press the green button on the neck of the guitar.

    • 7

Scroll down to "Calibrate Lag" and press the green button.

    • 8

Strum down on the guitar whenever the note crosses over the target in the center of the screen. Repeat until no more notes appear.

    • 9

Press the green button to accept the new calibration settings and return to the game.
