Instructions
Place a bath towel on a table. Remove all cables from the PS2. Place the PS2 face down on the bath towel with the front facing you. Pull off all of the plugs on the bottom that are at the middle and edge closest to you.
Remove the screws revealed from beneath the plugs at the middle of the PS2 with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the screws from the edge closest to you with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the two screws from the upper right corner of the PS2 with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.
Lift up on the edge of the back cover that is closest to you. Slide the back cover away from you and off the PS2. Stand the back cover vertically on the right side of the PS2 so that the cables connected between it and the PS2 are not broken.
Remove the four black screws surrounding the DVD player with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the two yellow-dotted screws on each side of the DVD player with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.
Lift the DVD player up, taking care not to break off the connectors attached beneath it.
Insert the tip of a flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver into each of the two latches on the circuit board beneath the hard drive. Lift up on the tip to release the latches. Pull the two plugs out of the latches. Remove the DVD player from the PS2. Dispose of the DVD player properly.
Place the two plugs attached to the replacement DVD player into the appropriate connections on the circuit board. Close the latches with the tip of the flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver.
Place the replacement DVD player in the position that was occupied by the original. Screw in the four screws. Screw in the two yellow-dotted screws.
Slide the back cover back onto the PS2. Reattach the screws.
Apply a dab of glue from the glue stick to one side of the nubs. Place the nubs back onto the bottom of the PS2 so they cover the screws. Press down on each nub to secure it to the bottom of the PS2. Let the glue dry for 10 minutes. Turn the PS2 over. Reattach the cables.
