How to Connect PC Hard Drives to a PS2

Connecting a hard drive to the PlayStation2 game console can bring some life back into the old system. You will have access to all the stored data from the hard drive for use on your PS2. There are two ways to connect a hard drive to the PS2. The first is with standard USB connection and the second is with the PS2 network adapter.

  1. USB Hard Drive

      Turn your PS2 on and let it load.

      Connect your external hard drive to the PS2 using the USB cord. Give the PS2 time to load the information from the hard drive.

      If your hard drive is compatible with the PS2 you will be able to access it under the "Storage Devices" menu.

    PS2 Network Adapter

      Purchase a PS2 network adapter. It should be available at any electronics supply store.

      Align the power ports and connectors of the hard drive with the slots on the network adapter. Connect the hard drive to the network adapter.

      Slide the hard drive into the expansion bay in the back of the PS2. Push it in until the network adapter port connects with the PS2.

      Screw in the network adapter to the back of the PS2.

      Turn the PS2 on and locate the hard drive under the "Storage Devices" list.
