How to Fix a Slim PS2 System That is Not Spinning the Disc

When the Sony Slimline PlayStation 2 becomes overheated or is the subject of too much wear and tear, the video game console will begin to malfunction. The most common issue with the PS2 is the disc read error. When the game disc refuses to spin or the console prompts you with the "Disc Read Error" message, the PS2's laser eye has overheated and burned out. You can attempt to manually replace the laser eye yourself to save on the cost of a professional repair; however, without mechanical expertise, you run the risk of breaking your console.
