Create your own items, weapons and armor using King Trode's alchemy pot, as they are often far superior to what may be purchased in the shops. To use the pot, pause the game, then click on "Miscellaneous" menu. Scroll down and select "Alchemy." Depending on your pot's level, you may select two or three items to blend together to make a new item, including a better weapon.
Increase your character's skill level by winning battles against weaker enemies. Increased levels lead to increased stats and new spells, which may be enough to win a battle with a difficult boss.
Give healing items to characters who don't know healing spells, in case your healer is injured or killed. Equip them with powerful items like Greater Panacea, which fully restores a character's HP and fixes status problems like sleep, poison or confusion. Elfin Elixir may be used to fully restore the character's magic.
Cast status spells at the beginning of the battle to protect your party and weaken the boss' party. Use helpful spells like Oomph to raise attack power, or Kabuff to decrease the team's physical damage. Use spells such as Sap to decrease the boss' defense.
Call your Monster Team out to protect you and do damage on your behalf. Gain a Monster Team by joining the Monster Arena, located southeast of Pickham, then defeating and capturing monsters in the field. Call out the team in battle by selecting "Monster Team" from the menu.
