Things You'll Need
Instructions
Connect the PlayStation 2 to the laptop using the CAT-5 crossover cable or a network hub. A CAT-5 crossover cable can be distinguished from a standard CAT-5 cable by observing the two ends. If the colored wires are in a different order on each end, the cable is a crossover cable. Put the network access disc in the laptop's CD drive.
Navigate to the "Start" pane (bottom left corner of the screen) or press the "Windows" key in Windows XP. Select "My Network Places" from "Start" and then select "Properties" from the Network Places window. Alternatively, "Right Click" on the "Network" option from the "Start" menu and select "Properties."
If running Windows 7, click on the "Start"menu, select "Control Panel" and then "Network and Internet." Next, select the "View Network Computers and Devices" option .
Select the Wireless Connection and the Local Area Connection. "Right Click" one of the two selected connections and choose the "Bridge Connections" option. The window should now say that the connection is "bridged" under both the Wireless Network Connection and the Local Area Connection. Open a web browser on the laptop to test the connection.
Use the Network Access disc to set up the PS2 connection. If this was previously done, acquiring an Internet connection and playing PlayStation games on the Internet should automatically occur. If this was not done previously, or if problems arise, double-check that the laptop settings allow Internet access through the bridged connection.
