How to Play PS2 Games Off of a USB Mass Storage Drive

Since the introduction of newer game consoles, the PS2 has become obsolete. Still, users can play their favorite PS2 games without the need of the PS2 system. By downloading emulators and ROMs, players can install their game files onto an external hard drive and play their games. To play these games, users will need a PC and PSX2, the only available PS2 emulator. Without this emulator, users cannot play their PS2 games.

Instructions

  Download PSX2 from the PSX2 website. PSX2 is an emulator that acts as the PlayStation 2 system, decoding the ROM files to play games.

  Download ROMs. Using a search engine, type "PS2 ROMs" to find websites that provide ROMs. From the website, select "PS2 ROMs" and select the ROM you wish to download. To download, simple click on the download link. Each downloaded file will automatically download to your desktop. Users should only download ROMs as a backup file to the games they have purchased. Downloading games that you do not own is illegal.

  Insert your external hard drive, also known as a USB mass storage drive. Double-click on your USB hard drive that appears on your desktop. Then click on the ROM file and PSX2 emulator to drag-and-drop onto your external hard drive window. This action will copy and paste both your ROM and PSX2 emulator onto your hard drive.

  Open PSX2 from your hard drive. Then select the ROM you wish to play.
