How to Use Memory Stick Duo on PS2

PlayStation 2 (PS2) can recognize USB devices because special drivers have been built into the operating system (OS). This is not the case for a Memory Stick Duo, also made by Sony but too dissimilar in design to a USB drive to be recognized by the PS2. A Memory Stick Duo-to-PS2 adapter, purchased from a gaming store or electronics supply, is required for the PS2 to be able to use a Memory Stick for storage and other uses. The adapter not only enables the Memory Stick Duo to connect to the PS2, but also provides the operating system with the needed drivers. Using the Memory Stick Duo-to-PS2 adapter will not damage the PS2, nor void its warranty.
