Activating the Peripheral That Will Not Work
Remove the USB hub from the PS2. Unplug all of the peripherals from the USB hub.
Plug the peripheral that was not recognized by the PS2 into the No. 1 slot on the USB hub.
Plug the USB hub back into the PS2. Turn the PS2 on to use the peripheral.
Force the USB Driver to Load Into the USB Hub
Plug the USB hub into the PS2 connector of the PS2-to-USB adapter. Plug the USB connector of the PS2-to-USB adapter into a USB port on the PC.
Wait as the USB hub's built-in driver loads into the PC's operating system--this will take up to a few minutes to complete.
Click the "X" on the Toolbar at the bottom of the screen to close the "New Hardware added" window.
Shut down the PC. Disconnect the PS2-to-USB adapter from the PC's USB port. Remove the PS2-to-USB adapter from the USB hub.
Plug the USB hub back into the PS2. Attach any peripherals that you want to use to the USB hub. Turn the PS2 on to use the peripherals attached to the USB hub.
Changing the Voltage Requirements on the PS2
Plug the USB hub into the PS2. Plug in the peripherals that you want to use in the USB hub.
Navigate from the Home menu to "Settings." Select "Storage" from the list of choices presented beneath "Settings."
Enter the following sequence on the PS2 game controller: Push up on the direction pad while pressing the "Start" button.
Press "Select" and count up to three. Release the direction pad and buttons on the PS2 game controller. Navigate back to the Home menu.
Turn the PS2 off. Turn the PS2 on to use the peripherals attached to the USB hub.
