A Corrupt PS2 File Won't Delete

PlayStation 2 memory cards, like a computer's hard disk drive, can become corrupt and malfunction, causing you to lose your data. Unfortunately, these corrupt files will remain on your memory card and cannot be deleted using the in-game memory card browser. Another way to remove data from your PS2 memory card acts as a sort of manual override; by using this alternative to data deletion, you can free up space on your memory card for other game saves.

Instructions

    • 1

Eject any disc that you may have in your PlayStation 2 and load the memory card into an open slot on the console.

    • 2

Navigate through the options on the PlayStation 2 main menu you until you find the "browser" and press "X" to open it.

    • 3

Browse the contents of your memory card by highlighting it and pressing "X". Search through the data on the card until you find the corrupted file and open it by pressing "X".

    • 4

Highlight "Delete" in the list of options and press "X" to remove the file. Exit the browser and reboot your PS2. Return to the browser and confirm that the file has been deleted.
