Things You'll Need
Instructions
Insert an R-rated DVD into the PlayStation 2. This prompts the system to display a warning about the Parental Control level that has been set. Choose “yes” when asked if you want to play the DVD. In the next window, choose “yes” when asked to temporarily change the level of the Parental Controls. The “password input” screen appears.
Press the select button on the controller. The screen now reads “delete password.” Enter the factory default code, 7444. A message appears to inform you that the deletion is complete.
Press the select button again. Choose any new four-digit code and enter it on the screen. Confirm the code you have chosen by entering it once more when prompted. A message appears that says “Registration Confirmed.”
Turn off the password feature completely if desired. Press the select button while the movie is playing, then hit “Stop” twice. Choose “Setup,” then “Custom Setup.” Navigate to the Parental Control tab, press the right directional button on the controller and enter the password you chose. Change the Parental Control setting to “Off.” Go back to the DVD menu and hit “Play.”
Eject the disc from the system while it is still playing. Turn off the system via the power switch in the back. Wait for about ten seconds, then turn the system back on and reinsert the DVD. The Parental Controls should now be permanently turned off and you will no longer be asked for a password.
