How to Get Rid of Scratches From PS2 Games

The PlayStation 2 (PS2) video game console plays games that are stored on compact discs. While compact discs store a large amount of information and are also easy to store and transport, they can also become scratched. When a PS2 game gets scratched, it will become more difficult for the console to read--leading to an error that prevents the game from being played. If you own PS2 games that are scratched, you can try to remove the scratches instead of paying full price for a replacement game.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

Clean the PS2 game with a microfiber cloth, but be careful not to rub any of the dust particles into the disc, scratching it further. You can run the disc under warm water or use a commercial cleaning solution designed for compact discs. Allow the disc to air-dry or softly dry the disc with a microfiber cloth.

Take the PS2 game outside, or a well-ventilated area, and apply the metal polish. Using a microfiber cloth, apply a thin layer of the metal polish to the scratched portion of the game. Rub the metal polish into the scratch softly.

Clean the PS2 game. Run warm water over the disc to remove the excess metal polish, and dry it with the microfiber cloth. Allow the game to air-dry or you can dry the disc using a clean and dry microfiber cloth.
