How to Turn on a Wireless PS2 Controller

Some game consoles are almost exclusively wireless, but for gamers with older unit&'s like Sony&'s PS2, you will have to use a third-party wireless controller to enjoy cord-free playing. The set-up and use of a wireless PS2 controller is easy, but users may actually come across some problems when trying to turn the wireless controller on. A little troubleshooting will make using your wireless controller easy and enjoyable on the PS2.

  Open up the back of the PS2 wireless controller and make sure batteries are properly installed. If the controllers are new, they typically come with a free set of batteries, but they are packaged separately than the controller. If the controller is used, use a pair of fresh batteries so that you know the batteries are not the problem.

  Insert the wireless adapter into the first-player port on the PS2 console. Some PS2 games do not recognize the second-player port, so eliminate that glitch by testing out the controller in the first port.

  Power on the PS2. A light on the wireless adapter should flash on. If the light turns solid, then the controller is connected.

  Turn the power switch to "ON" on the wireless PS2 controller. Some wireless controllers do contain a power switch and will automatically turn on when a button is pressed. If this is the case, press any button on the controller.

  Press the "Connection" button on the wireless adapter. The small light will blink for a few seconds and then appear solid. Your wireless controller should now be connected to the PS2.

  Test out the controller by pressing buttons and playing the game. If you have multiple wireless controllers, make sure the connections do not interfere with each other by playing with both at the same time.

  Keep the wireless adapter plugged into the PS2 to avoid repeating this process every time the PS2 restarts.
