How to Repair a Scratched PS2 Disc

Like other sixth-generation home games, Sony Playstation 2 games exist on disc-based media. While this allows for a larger amount of game data to be stored than on a cartridge, discs are also more susceptible to damage in the form of smudges or scratches. If your PS2 game disc has become too scratched to play, you can easily repair the disc using simple household items.

  • Lip balm
  • Terry cloth

Instructions

      Turn your PS2 game disc over so that the scratched side is facing up.

      Rub the lip balm on the disc in a side to side motion until it has been smeared over the entire disc. Use your finger to even out the lip balm on the disc.

      Wipe the lip balm off of the disc with a terry cloth. Wipe gently in a circular motion around the disc.

      Leave the disc alone for about 10 minutes. You should now find that the scratches on the disc have been repaired.
