Things You'll Need
Instructions
Disconnect any wires, plugs, memory cards and controllers from the console.
Lay out a towel or a soft cloth on a flat surface to use as your work area.
Flip the PlayStation 2 so it is laying upside-down horizontally.
Use the edge of your fingernail or a small, flat-head screwdriver to lift and remove the six screw covers from the base of the console.
Unscrew the six screws using a Phillips screwdriver (size #0).
Remove the screws from the bottom of the console and place them into a small plastic container so that they don't get lost.
Flip the console over so it's right-side up and the PlayStation logo and controller ports are facing you.
Lift the upper casing from the back-left corner of the console, being very careful not to damage the reset button and eject switch (these parts are delicate and will break if you remove the upper casing improperly).
